Wrightsville Beach

0

We had a great time at Wrightsville during trackout. Stayed at the Blockade Runner again this year, can’t say enough about how nice the renovations are down there. We hit the beach, the aquarium, shopped, visited friends, took a horse drawn carriage ride around downtown Wilmington and a cruise on the Intracoastal Waterway where dolphins swam right up to the boat.

Roller Derby

0

We went to Roller Derby on Saturday to watch the Carolina Roller Girls face the San Diego Wildfires. Of course the match was delayed when we had to evacuate to the basement of Dorton Arena as the tornadoes swept through the greater Raleigh area but we got a good story of out it at least! Skating resumed eventually and it was a hotly-contested match – down to the last jam but Carolina pulled out the close win.

Playing golf (updated)

I’m way behind on photos – literally hundreds piled up. We have been swamped this trackout. We just got back from Wrightsville last night and then headed to Finley to play golf with Grandpa Gordon.

UNC Spring Game (updated)

0

We went to the Spring Football game today! After sweltering last year, it was freezing this year. We had a good time – much bigger crowd that I was expected with the cold overcast day!

Hayley getting award at school (updated)

0

Hayley got the Teacher’s Choice award today in Science at the Honors Assembly this morning! (update – I added photos from the event and going out that afternoon with her friends)

Click through to see what the award say:

Her teacher gave a speech about her that was just adorable. For those of you who have known either me or Jeff for a long time, you’ll find the part about ‘quirky being good because it is creative, different and unique’ very funny and so appropriate for our kid. Hayley is one of a kind and she’s so lucky to find teachers who aren’t annoyed but find that praiseworthy. For what it’s worth, she had such a solid A in science she didn’t even use any of her extra credit.

(turn your volume up loud to hear)

Then her teachers did some ‘entertainment’ to end the assembly. This is her science, social studies, math and language arts teachers singing Justin Bieber’s Baby Baby. Hayley and a friend got to stand up on the tables and help by holding up signs with some of the lyrics. Hayley is really lucky to go to such a great school with dynamic teachers.

(turn the volume down a bit now, lol)
