Tonight we went to Chili’s because they were giving all the profits to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. A very good cause of course!
We all went to celebrate Hayley’s awesome report card as well as ‘Nice to meet you day’, the anniversary of the first day we ever met Hayley. We had such fun – silly toasts, sharing a gooey dessert, sharing our feelings of love and happiness over our family. It was one of those nights all is right with our world. I won’t forget it for a long time.

As you may notice, I’m making some massive changes to hillison.com – to the site itself and how we store photos. The photos will all be on flickr now which is quicker than our old server and easier for us all to use. You should enjoy having access to all the photos there b/c you can do fun stuff with print them.
Bear with us as I move 20,000 photos and nearly 500 stories over!

On August 8th, 1998 we said ‘I do’ in a lovely wedding in Chapel Hill at the Chapel of the Cross with a reception at the Horace Williams House.
Those were the smartest two words I ever said. 10 years later and we are still very much in love and best friends.

Hooray, we finally ordered our new living room furniture! I finally twisted Jeff’s arm into it by making it be my anniversary gift. [10 years tomorrow in fact, I love you more now sweetie than I did even then.]

We got the couch, love seat and ottoman in that dark brown leather. The ottoman will be used for extra seating, ie video games closer to the tv.

The tables are darker actually and insanely heavy stone. hayley actually found these and I flipped over them.

And then two recliners in this pear color, which is more muted when you see it for real.
I had them drag pieces over to look at it all together and it looks good together.
I’m going to replace the sofa table on the back wall with a large square grid bookshelf but that will take some time to sort out with some places because we all know I’m picky when I have an idea in my head. I’ll toss in some green accessories to pick up that color.

For the fourth we made red, white and blue tie-dyed shirts and then totally dorked out, with the three of us wearing them with khaki shorts. Then we went over to our friends Mike, Sara and Landon’s house for a cookout.
We finally did our tie-dye project in the days before July 4th. Our red, white and blue concoctions had some good and bad points but it was a lot of fun and not even a big mess!
The funny thing is all my hard work ended up not being on MY shirt but Jeff’s shirt. His turned out well while mine ended up looking like an abstract art canvas. Hayley called it that, which is pretty cool that she gets art forms but I digress. She decided to just speckle the heck out of hers and what we thought was Jeff’s but ended up as mine. Even messy they were fun and cute. She loved making them and we are definitely going to do it again.
And I’ll have you know the people working at a local grocery store thought we were very cool in our shirts. We had a really good time at the Rodgers, as always. Hayley loves to play with Landon and he loves to mimic her. We ate, goofed off, played the Wii and watched the kids be silly.

I’m running behind on photos as always! These are from when Hayley’s team played in the Julian Brown soccer tournament in Charlotte in April.
I took Hayley and her teammate Gabbie down early on the train down since they were tracked out, we went to Discovery Place and goofed off! It was a great trip and we loved the new Hyatt Place hotel in Charlotte.
There are four chunks in the gallery – train trip, discovery place, hotel room and action shots from the tournament.

Some cute photos from Hayley’s camera (and many by her) at the UNC-FSU men’s basketball game this week. It was senior night and the final home game of the season.
This photo is so adorable – she was screaming after a huge dunk on a breakaway by Tyler Hansbrough, off an assist from Quentin Thomas. Jeff says it is one of his favorite photos ever of Hayley and I think I agree.

Another I love, Cheering her little heart out in her #50 (Hansbrough) jersey with Hillison on the back.

First, we have signed a contract to move our webkinz blog to a network where we’ll be paid for our work. We are fairly excited about this and I’m thrilled to be able to let someone else handle the technical/server issues, as well as stop losing money on our blog, lol! Jeff says I have the golden online touch but mostly I just do what seems fun to me – and this time it was a great chance to do it with Hayley!
We are even paying Hayley to help on the blog now. It was too cute, we made her
interview for the job like a real job interview – Jeff wanted to get her teacher to write a recommendation. (I told her teacher and she laughed at it too and said she would have). Of course, she’ll make less than her allowance per post and will have to post over 70 words to actually make anymore so cross your fingers to see that actually happen!
Hayley is just thrilled that someone is going to pay her for “working”. It is a great early lesson in how this new economy works and how you can create something of value.
Second, on Wednesday before the UNC – NC State game we were listening to 850 the Buzz, the local sports talk radio station, on the way to soccer practice. Well some State fan insulted Tyler Hansbrough and Hayley got so angry. She demanded my cell phone and their number. I told her I didn’t now the number, hoping that would end it. Well next time the station ran the numbers, she wrote them down and demanded the phone yet again. I said I’ll give it to you if you know what you are going to say – and she was very clear about it.
So I called the station and talked to them. They said they’d consider putting her on the air but wanted to talk to her first. After a few minutes, they told her to hold on because they would put her on the radio right after the break. I had to remind her to be polite and not to curse (she is allowed to say ‘go to hell duke and state’ at home), as well as I didn’t want her to say ‘sucks’ but stinks was ok. I had this fear of her just going off!
She was a bit flustered at first but she got rolling like a pro and talked about how great Tyler is, how UNC is going to beat State and that they would win by 20. They LOVED her. They asked who do you watch sports and listen to the station with, your mom or your dad – she says, ‘my mom’. I loved that! They said it was the first time a nine year old girl called in to talk on the air.
I know the host of the program in passing and dropped him an email the day after. He said it was a great call and they enjoyed her doing it. Some posters on IC heard it too and loved it.
I’m just so proud of her – she has no fear of being out front of the pack.
