Hayley’s basketball season ended a few weeks ago and I finally got around to posting these photos. Her team went 11-1 and won the regular season but was upset in the playoff semifinals due to being down to six kids playing an opponent with ten.
It was a very fun season – great group of girls and great coaches.

I picked up 25 tickets for Hayley’s basketball team and families to go to the UNC-Duke women basketball game at the Dean Dome. Most of the girls were UNC fans but one was a serious Duke fan, bless her heart. Everyone had a great time, cheering and running around. And of course, UNC won!
(The Storm is 10-1 heading into the last weekend of the regular season and already has the top seed the playoffs locked up, which gives them a bye for the opening round! But they’ve got some injuries to deal with so who knows what’ll happen.)

Hi to my friends and family. I am doing a Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for The American Heart Association. I am doing this b/c our principal Ms Willard had a heart attack and I want to help raise money in honor. She means a lot to us. I have other family members too who have had heart problems and this is for them too.
Can you please help me raise donations to help out? You can donate online here: My Jump Rope for Heart donation page or you can send my Mom a check.
Thanks for your help!

Hayley competed at her first real big horse show – big meaning not at a local stable. This was at the Hunt Horse Complex on the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. She rode in three events: WT 9 & 10 Equitation, Academy Showmanship 9 & 10 WT and Command Class 9 & 10 WT. Our neighbors Jen came with Mason and my parents came so she had a big cheering squad.
The first one were tough, her first time in the big ring with a lot of noise and her horse wasn’t super happy to be there either. By the second event, Hayley was feeling better and did well but it was a challenging group to be in. However by the third event, she switched horses to one she’d rode a great deal more and they practiced a bit during the break. Bam – she came out and WON the Command Class 9 & 10 year olds, Walk Trot. I think she did well also because you get to be more creative there and move the horse more.
So she picked up a Blue Ribbon in her first real horse show and we are so proud of her!

We’ve been so busy with work, school and activities lately that I haven’t had a chance to post much of anything but I wanted to post these two quick small versions of photos. I’ll post them bigger and with lots more soon I promise.

Hayley with her Blue Ribbon for winning an event at the ASAC East Winter Horse Show at the Horse Complex at the State Fairgrounds!!! She won her group of the 9-10 year olds Command Walk/Trot event. She was fantastic!!

Several of my friends named it Snowbama day since we got six inches on Tuesday the day of the inauguration of President Obama, it made me chuckle so I keep using it. Besides all we did that day was either snow or inauguration related anyway.

Hayley found this stunned complete half circle rainbow on the way home from the beach. We had to pull over and take photos it was so lovely. At one point there were two, one echoing the other.

We had a great time visiting Nicole and Mason down at Wilmington earlier this week. We went to another lighthouse – Oak Island. Luckily instead of having to make an appointment, one of the volunteers was there and let us in. Hayley was old enough to climb up a level to see how things worked.
It was relaxing – Monkey Joes, Wiis and a lot of good conversations with my old dear friend Nicole.
We checked out UNCW, how it has grown. All the students were getting books are the bookstore in the Student Union and Hayley liked all the activity there. She wanted a sweatshirt so we grabbed a cute teal one with navy polka dots.
On the way home we saw a stunning rainbow – a fitting end!

We had a great Christmas day. Hayley was so excited about her big gifts of the iPod Nano and the electric guitar and amp. She got lots of other wonderful gifts too and was spoiled as always.
Then we had a big ole Christmas lunch with my family, Jeff’s family and our friends Mike, Sara and Landon. I love a full table – full of good food and laughter.
