We were just so excited to get the news today: Grand Prize Winner of the Soul Fusion 2010 Tween Model Search is….. Hayley H. !!!!!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone who voted in the facebook popular vote part. Thank you to the judges on the expert panel. And most definitely thank you to Soul Fusion who ran the contest and took amazing photos of all the girls. If you are local, consider them for all of your photography needs – they do great work with families, kids of all ages and everything in between!
Hayley says, “thanks to everyone and all the girls did great. They looked really awesome so this is a really big honor.”
Hayley is in a Tween Model Search being done by Soul Fusion, a really cool local photography studio. The studio posts the pics on their facebook page for people to vote on them. A friend of Hayley’s did it last year and had so much fun, so we jumped at the chance to do it when it rolled around this year. If you have facebook, please vote for her!
It’s been a busy week! Hayley wanted to go to the NC Museum of Art so we headed over there to wander around since we hadn’t been since the renovations. She took lots of photos of her favorite stuff, mostly Egyptian and modern stuff. Good warmup for our big Chicago trip and visit to the Art Institute there!
I took this one photo of her but the rest are hers:

Then this week Hayley and I went to see Rent put on by Broadway Series South group in Raleigh. First time I’d seen it on stage and it was wonderful. Hayley was transfixed by Angel – it was a raucous intimate setting in the Fletcher Theater so she had fun hooting and clapping. I think we would have stayed after for autographs but Hayley was in a very cool movie making camp over in Durham all week and morning was going to come early!

After four years of doing UNC women’s games, Hayley was selected to do some games at the ACC Women’s basketball tournament in Greensboro. Hayley was assigned to two games on Friday night and Jeff’s folks came down from Blacksburg and my Dad who lives in Gboro came as well.
She lucked out and was paired with a nice girl about the same age. It was mascot night so all the team’s mascots were there which was really funny. Buzz, the GT mascot, just randomly ran up to Hayley, picked her up and swing her around. They even had a little competition for the ballkid who did the most work which you know ended up being Hayley who views herself as a pro at this. It was a really neat experience – the ACC went all out to make the kids feel really part of the event from the clothes to going in the team entrances, etc. I can’t say enough about Raycom and the ACC folks involved in it.

Hayley and her friend next door Mason went to the Children’s Etiquette Luncheon at the Carolina Inn today, which is just lovely during the holidays. So the two little princesses got all dressed up and had just a fabulous time. Five course luncheon at a four star hotel for kids 8 to 12 years old to learn from an etiquette expert, so adorable! They felt like it was princess school and raved about it. They wandered all over the Inn looking at their 12 days of Christmas exhibits – even two live turtle doves in the lobby. Then I took them to the grounds at Gimghoul Castle to run around because all princesses have to visit the castle right?

Hayley and Jeff have been constructing this robotic dinosaur and have taken photos over time as they worked on it. It is finally done – the eyes light up and it roars and rumbles.
Ahhhh fear the dino creation!

Before heading out to school this morning… she’s such the cute little rebel. She had been yammering for shiny black doc martens but they don’t make the style she wanted in her small foot size but we lucked out and found them elsewhere. I should have had her pose with her new black ‘punk princess’ messenger bag. I fully expect to see her with her guitar fronting a band dressed just the same in a few years but with more snarl and less hugs
We had a long day – Hayley came home from my folks, went to a birthday party, headed to our neighborhood Fall/Halloween Festival and then watched Twilight outside at the Lanes’ house on their huge projector screen. Cold but much fun!
I was helping during the festival so I didn’t take many photos.
I posted a few before but here are all sixty photos from the party!
Fhew, what a great birthday this turned out to be! Hayley had Emma, Kennedy and Mason over and they started with manicures and pedicures at Sweet and Sassy, the limo ride, dinner at Ginza, a Japanese steakhouse, then home for cake, Wii, movies and sleepover.
