Photos: Snowbama day

Several of my friends named it Snowbama day since we got six inches on Tuesday the day of the inauguration of President Obama, it made me chuckle so I keep using it. Besides all we did that day was either snow or inauguration related anyway.

Sorry it took me forever to respond to your kind comments on my sidesaddle blog. I have been in love with Saddlebreds since I was a child and my Grandfather took me to Pin Oak Charity horse show at the infamous Pin Oak Stables!! My youngest daughter used to take lessons with me and during those awful teenage years – even though we disagreed on several things – we always had the riding that brought us back onto the same ‘plain’. I think it is one of the reasons we are so close to this day. She is now 25.

I was so happy to hear about your adopted daughter. You hear so much garbage about children wanting to find their ‘real’ parents. I never had that desire. I loved my parents so much that other than not having a medical history, I was never willing to open that Pandora’s Box! ha ha – I was kind of worried about what I might find anyway!!!

Your family is adorable and I hope your daughter finds great fun and a bit of success in her riding! Keep in touch.

Julie, thanks for your lovely words!

We’ve been really lucky to have been able to turn this into an open adoption, so we are all her ‘real parents’, we just have different roles in her life. She talks to her birth parents and sees them every so often. Of course every adoption and person is different but It really works for her and she’s got all that medical info too.

We are really loving Saddlebreds and looks like we’ve made progress on getting the saddle. Her first academy show is next Saturday so we are really excited. She moved up to a bigger horse today and did so well, it was lovely to watch.
